Past Continuous Tense/ ঘটমান অতীত কাল
অতীতে কোন কাজ চলছিল বা হচ্ছিল বোঝালে হয় Past Continuous Tense/ ঘটমান অতীত কাল
বাংলায় চেনার উপায়ঃ
বাংলায় ক্রিয়াপদের শেষে চ্ছিল,চ্ছিলাম,চ্ছিলে ইত্যাদি থাকলে হয় Past Continuous Tense/ ঘটমান অতীত কাল
1.Rules of Positive sentence: Past Continuous tense এর হ্যাঁ- বাচক বাক্য লেখার নিয়মাবলী হল –
Subject + was/were + verb+ing +object
Note- I,He,She,It এবং অন্যসব Third Person Singular Number এর পর Was বসবে। We,You,They, এবং Plural subject এর শেষে were বসে।
Example:
কুকুরটি তখন ডাকছিল -The dog was barking then.
আমি বিকেলবেলা পড়তে যাচ্ছিলাম -I was going for tuition in the afternoon.
তারা তখন গল্পের বই পড়চ্ছিল – They were reading story books then .
সে স্কুলে যাচ্ছিল– He was going to school.
2.Rules of Negative sentence: Past Continuous tense এর না- বাচক বাক্য লেখার নিয়মাবলী হল –
Subject + was/were+ not + verb+ing +object
Example:
কাল বৃষ্টি পরচ্ছিল না -It was not raining yesterday.
সে তখন পড়াশুনা করছিল না– He was not studying then.
আমি বাজার যাচ্ছিলাম না – I was not going to market.
তুমি কাল রাতে ঘুমাচ্ছিলে না – You were not sleeping last night.
3.Positive Interrogative Sentence : Past Continuous tense এর হ্যাঁ- বাচক প্রশ্ন লেখার নিয়মাবলী হল –
Was/were + Subject + verb+ing +object
Example:
তুমি কি স্নান করচ্ছিল ? – Were you bathing ?
তিনি কি ঘুমাচ্ছিলেন ? – Was he sleeping ?
ছেলেরা কি মাঠে ফুটবল খেলচ্ছিল? – Were the boys playing football in the field ?
আমি কি ভুল করচ্ছিলাম? – Was I doing wrong ?
4.Negative Interrogative Sentence : Past Continuous tense এর না – বাচক প্রশ্ন লেখার নিয়মাবলী হল –
Was/were+ not + Subject + verb+ing +object
Example:
রবি কি পড়াশুনা করচ্ছিল না ? – Was not(wasn’t) Rabi studying?
তারা কি কাল চিড়িয়াখানায় যাচ্ছিল না ? –Were not(weren’t) they going to zoo yesterday?
আমি কি তোমায় সাহায্য করচ্ছিলাম না ? – Was I not helping you?
তোমরা কি মাছ ধরচ্ছিলে না ? – Were not you catching fish?
5.Wh-word Positive Interrogative Sentence : Past Continuous tense এর হ্যাঁ- বাচক Wh-word এর অর্থাৎ What( কি ), Where ( কোথায় ),Why ( কেন),When (কখন),Which ( কোনটি ),How (কিভাবে) দিয়ে প্রশ্ন লেখার নিয়মাবলী হল –
Wh-word +was/were + Subject + verb+ing +object
Example:
তোমরা কোথায় যাচ্ছিলে ? -Where were you going?
সুমন কখন আসচ্ছিল ? – When was Suman coming?
তুমি কোন গল্পের বই পড়চ্ছিলে ? – Which story book was you reading?
আমি কেন এত কষ্ট পাচ্ছিলাম ? -Why was I suffering so much?
6.Wh-word Negative Interrogative Sentence : Past Continuous tense এর না- বাচক Wh-word এর অর্থাৎ What( কি ), Where ( কোথায় ),Why ( কেন),When (কখন),Which ( কোনটি ),How (কিভাবে) দিয়ে প্রশ্ন লেখার নিয়মাবলী হল –
Wh-word +was/were +not+ Subject + verb+ing +object
Example:
সে কেন আসচ্ছিল না ? -Why was not(wasn’t) she coming ?
দিপা কোথায় ঘুরতে যাচ্ছিল না ? Where was not(wasn’t) Dipa Travelling?
তুমি কেন বই পরচ্ছিলে না ? – Why were not(weren’t) you reading books ?
